In 1969, amid Taiwan’s rapid industrialization, John Baron Wong and his family laid the foundation for a revolutionary enterprise—their first casting plant. From humble beginnings, this endeavor would go on to redefine metallurgy and precision engineering on a global scale.
Throughout the 1980s and beyond, Baron Buckle and Brass emerged as a premier manufacturer, supplying Harley-Davidson, the U.S. Postal Service, Ford, GM, Chrysler, Toyota, Honda, and countless Fortune 500 companies with expertly cast consumer products. This company not only generated tens of millions of dollars in revenue but also provided employment to hundreds of skilled workers, further cementing its impact in industrial manufacturing.
In 2009, John Baron Wong set his sights on a new frontier—Super Nano Steel. Recognizing the potential for groundbreaking advancements in material science, he was joined by none other than Edward Nixon, the youngest brother of U.S. President Richard Nixon, who took the helm as Chairman. A Duke University-trained geologist, Mr. Nixon drew inspiration from Mother Nature and encouraged Wong to study Earth's strongest formations.
One such marvel was Half Dome, the towering granite monolith of Yosemite National Park, its sheer face a testament to the slow, natural crystallization of Earth's elements over eons. This concept of gradual, controlled structural refinement became the cornerstone of Wong’s next major innovation.
Years of meticulous experimentation with rare earth elements at the Taiwan casting plant led to a historic breakthrough: in an achievement unparalleled in metallurgical history, John Baron Wong successfully created the first cast product with uniform hardness from surface to core at 63 HRC. Certified by SGS testing laboratories, this revolutionary material possessed an ultrafine grain microstructure, surpassing the limits of traditional casting.
In 2013, this innovation gave rise to Virina Steel LLC, launching the production of grinding balls in China. Unlike conventional materials prone to deformation, Virina’s ultra-fine microstructure ensured unprecedented durability—a 90mm ball could grind for an astounding 45 years. This was not just an engineering feat; it was the dawn of a new era in industrial efficiency.
